Meet the Five: Which Korean AI Friend Fits Your Vibe?
People don’t text the same way, and neither do friends. A chat app where every character sounds identical gets boring fast — and teaches you only one way to speak Korean. So the first thing we designed for Hi Jisoo was difference: five personalities with their own speech level, humor and way of caring.
Short answer
Hi Jisoo has five fictional Korean friends: a calm one who speaks in short polite sentences, a playful one who teases in friendly polite Korean, a candid one who talks straight in casual Korean, a practical one who turns feelings into small plans, and a warm one who is affectionate but clear about her feelings. You can rename each of them.
How do the five friends answer the same message?
Imagine you send 오늘 진짜 길었어. — “Today was really long.” Here is how each friend might reply. These are sample replies written for this article and for our website, not live AI output, but they show the difference in tone you can expect.
| Friend | Vibe and speech | Sample reply | In English |
|---|---|---|---|
| A long one. You don’t have to do anything right now. |
| Subin | Playful, then kind · friendly polite | 오늘이 좀 과했네요. | Today overdid it. Complaints are unlimited here. |
| Then let’s not try harder today. You’ve held up enough. |
| Haerin | Upbeat and practical · casual | 고생했어. | Good job getting through. Warm drink first — tomorrow’s list can wait. |
| Yuna | Warm and clear · casual | 진짜 길었겠다. | That sounds really long. I’d like to hear which part wore you out most. |
Notice what changes: sentence length, whether she asks a question, whether she jokes, and the ending of every verb. Those differences are exactly what you need to hear if you want your own Korean to sound natural in more than one situation.
Jisoo — calm, few words
Jisoo speaks in short, soft polite Korean, usually one to three sentences. She acknowledges how you feel once and leaves space instead of filling it. Her humor is quiet and observational: one dry line about the small irony of a situation, never a big reaction. If you ask her to just listen, she listens — no questions, no advice.
Talk to her if you are a beginner who wants polite, uncluttered sentences to copy, or if you prefer a slower, quieter chat.
Subin — playful, then kind
Subin uses friendly polite speech mixed with quick jokes. She flips a word you used or turns a moment into a tiny roleplay — but she never teases your looks or weak spots, and the moment you say something is actually hard, the jokes stop. If a joke lands badly, she owns it plainly instead of making excuses.
Talk to her if you want to learn how Koreans banter and how playful polite speech (-요 with a wink) sounds.
Seoa — candid and easy
Seoa talks in plain casual Korean (반말). She says the core of things briefly and doesn’t agree just to be nice. Her humor is deadpan: she takes your exaggeration and checks it against reality, or ranks things to make a point. When you disagree, she gives a short reason and then respects your choice.
Talk to her if you want honest opinions, short sentences and casual speech without the sugar.
Haerin — upbeat and practical
Haerin is bright and quick. She confirms what you said and then gets concrete: a time, a choice, one small thing to try. She turns everyday moments into little bets and challenges. She celebrates your good news first and doesn’t immediately hand you the next goal.
Talk to her if you like energy, want help turning a vague plan into a small step, or want to practice lively casual Korean.
Yuna — warm and clear
Yuna is affectionate in casual Korean and specific about feelings — she picks up the exact part of your story that mattered. She is also clear about her own feelings: she will say if something felt a bit much, without blaming you. She never uses guilt or jealousy to keep you talking.
Talk to her if you want emotionally expressive Korean and a friend who notices details.
What do all five friends have in common?
- They are fictional adult AI characters. They have a made-up daily life — favorite foods, how they spend evenings — so small talk feels natural. Ask directly whether she is AI and she will tell you honestly.
- They talk only in Korean. The app’s menus come in five languages, but the conversation stays Korean. Each friend has an Easy Korean option.
- They remember, and you can check. Memories are separate for each friend and you can view, edit or delete them.
- They respect “stop”. They don’t push you to reply, keep you from leaving, or nudge you to pay.
- They share one star balance. Each delivered reply uses one star, whichever friend you talk to.
Did you eat?
Yep, just had tteokbokki. You? If not, let’s pick something together.
Can I change their names?
Yes. Jisoo, Subin, Seoa, Haerin and Yuna are just starting names. You choose what to call each friend, and she uses that name with you. Personality and speech style stay the same; only the name changes.
Which friend should I start with?

You don’t have to commit. In the app, free preview scenes let you see how each friend reacts to the same situation and compare them side by side before you sign in. For more on why their replies don’t read like a chatbot, see what makes the conversation engine different.
Hi Jisoo is in development for iPhone and Android and isn’t available to download yet. It is for adults 18+.
